Mission Statement

The mission of The Art Institute of Seattle Library is to provide a diverse set of services and resources to students, faculty, and staff in a professional and informative manner. The resources in the Library should widely supplement program course work and general education, as well as encourage the intellectual and creative development of the college community.

To achieve this mission the Library will:

1. Provide excellent, customer-focused service to all students, faculty, and staff - for research, library use, collection development, and any other library-related community needs.

2. Acquire relevant, useful, and information-rich resources to serve academic programs as guided by a clearly defined Collection Development Policy.

3. Adhere to sound information organization principles and standards that streamline access to resources across formats.

4. Work with students, faculty, and staff to make library resources an integral and desirable part of the educational process.

5. Impart information literacy on a daily basis and in regularly taught bibliographic instruction classes while actively promoting information literacy within academic administration.

6. Serve as a supportive location for students, faculty, and staff to conduct research and work individually and/or in groups on academic and project-related work.

7. Monitor the effectiveness of the library with quantitative and qualitative measures to improve future outcomes.
